Therapy in West Valley City
West Valley City is one of Utah’s largest and most diverse cities, and its households often run on shift schedules and more than two generations under one roof. Athena works with West Valley City clients by telehealth, fitted around whatever hours your work actually gives you.

How Sessions Work Here
Telehealth, By Design
Athena does not have an office in West Valley City. What she offers is telehealth, conducted by secure video from wherever in Utah you happen to be, which, for a lot of West Valley City families, means a bedroom after younger kids are down, a car during a lunch break, or a quiet corner of a shared apartment. If you would rather sit across from her in a room, the Salt Lake City office is open to you, reachable by I-215 or by surface streets like 3500 South and 5600 West, but nothing about the therapy requires that drive.
West Valley City is a shift-work city in a lot of households: warehouse, retail, airport, and health care schedules that rotate week to week and rarely line up with a traditional 9-to-5 practice. Telehealth removes the part of therapy that is hardest to plan around a rotating schedule, the commute, and lets a session happen in whatever forty-five-minute window you actually have free.
A Common Starting Point
Family Conflict Under One Roof
West Valley City is home to a lot of multigenerational households: grandparents, parents, and kids sharing a house, sometimes for financial reasons and sometimes by choice and culture. That arrangement can be a genuine strength, and it also produces its own particular kind of friction: disagreements about discipline that cross generational lines, in-laws with strong opinions about a marriage they are not part of, teenagers caught translating expectations between a grandparent’s era and their own.
Athena works systemically, which means family conflict here is treated as a pattern the household is caught in together rather than a problem located in one difficult person. Sessions can include as many household members as are willing to join, over video, and the aim is a workable set of agreements rather than assigning blame.
Individual work is just as available: anxiety tied to work schedules that never settle, teens navigating school and identity, adults sorting out what they want apart from what their household expects of them.
Practical Notes
What Telehealth Requires
All that telehealth needs on your end is a private space for the hour, a closed door matters more in a full household than people expect, and a connection steady enough to hold a video call. If home is too full of other people for a family session to be private, some households use one parked car with two phones, or split the household across two rooms on the same call.
Athena is licensed in Utah only, so telehealth clients must be located somewhere in Utah at the time of each session, which is not a hurdle for anyone living in West Valley City.
Athena does not treat substance abuse, grief, or OCD, and she is not a prescriber. Individual sessions are 60 minutes at $200; family and couples sessions are 60 minutes at $250, and Select Health, BCBS, UBH and University of Utah Health Plans are accepted.
Common Questions
West Valley City Questions
- Is there an office in West Valley City?
- No. Athena’s only office is in Salt Lake City. West Valley City clients are seen by telehealth, and are welcome to come to the Salt Lake City office if they would rather meet in person.
- Can our whole family join a session together?
- Yes. Family sessions work by telehealth as long as everyone can be in the same room, or each on their own device if that is more practical for your household.
- What if my schedule is shift work?
- Telehealth tends to help most with shift work, since it removes the drive and lets a session happen between shifts rather than around them. Session times are worked out directly rather than fit into fixed office hours.
- Do you take insurance?
- Select Health, BCBS, UBH and University of Utah Health Plans are accepted. Individual sessions are 60 minutes at $200; family and couples sessions are 60 minutes at $250.
